How we do it
Trust structure
Aruhiko PEET is an independent charitable entity and is a registered not-for-profit Charitable Trust. Industry membership of the Trust is drawn from the Electricity Supply Industry and members provide donations as Trust income to give effect to the Trust purpose.
The Trust Board is established with a mixture of industry and academic Trustees to provide a governance function to ensure the successful delivery of the Trust purpose.
The programme is managed by a dedicated Aruhiko PEET Manager who is responsible for the execution of the annual programme within budget and to the satisfaction of the Trustees.
Board oversight
The industry Trustees consist of a single representative from each of the defined electrical supply industry sectors. The Trustees are appointed to the Board for up to two terms and are selected by nomination and election processes by members within each industry sector including:
- Generation
- Transmission
- Distribution
- Consulting
- Contracting
Programme management
Aruhiko PEET’s activities are supported through a collaborative partnership with the Te Hiranga Pūhanga Hiko – Electric Power Engineering Centre (EPECentre) at the University of Canterbury. The EPECentre hosts the Aruhiko PEET Programme Manager and also supports research and innovation in power engineering.
The Aruhiko PEET education and outreach programme is delivered by the Aruhiko PEET Programme Manager through the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Canterbury and the Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering at The University of Auckland.
The programme is focused on the BE (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with an emphasis on power engineering.
